“Art that sticks” is a new concept created by the Israeli artist Reut Akerman.

With her painter’s eye, Reut colleges intricate mosaics from tiny cuttings of Japanese paper into exquisitely beautiful representations of animals and nature.

Reut conveys in her artworks words in Hebrew, a Traditional Japanese pattern, mythological symbols, and pop culture images.

Each piece takes months to create, and the result is mesmerizing artwork, With which one can enjoy both the details and the whole picture.

“8 years ago, I was a new mom of two kids and realized I could no longer do my oil painting because it was too messy and toxic. I was frustrated and looked for a different way to express myself.

I started playing around with some washi tapes on a wooden panel, and suddenly, I had this transcendental moment that connected me with my childhood. I remember myself, about 6 years old, sitting on my parent’s house pavement, creating a college petal of flowers I collected from our garden”.
